“I Found Something!!!”

May 5, 2015

This past weekend was my second Listen to Your Mother show and another opportunity to share my story. As always, I was overwhelmed at the love and support from family and friends who came to see me share, but one of my littlest fans came and I was pleasantly surprised!

My nephew was all adorable in his shorts and Mike Wasowski shirt, so we just HAD to take a picture together. I said my last goodbyes to people within the theatre and then we headed out for the trek home. Jim had driven my mom’s van, so we were all together – Jim & Rhonda up front, Rowan and Sarah in the second row and my mom and I in the back. Rowan faced me – squirming and wriggling around, fussing a bit at having to sit in that bucket seat during our drive.

I soon found myself to be his entertainment for the trip – shaking the little toys in an effort to keep him calm and happy. One of the easiest ways to get a laugh is tickling, so I tickled the inside of his thigh. Much to his surprise (and mine!) he giggled and so I decided to try this surefire trick once more, exclaiming, “I found something!” in my best sing-song voice.

And then it happened.

I had indeed found something. He had sprung a green/yellow leak and I immediately removed my finger in horror and displayed what I had “found’ to the van, screaming “HE POOPED!!!!” This elicited fits of laughter throughout the vehicle as Sarah found wipes while only half-heartedly stifling her guffaws.

I supposed that will be the last time I make that mistake. We both got cleaned up, but I think I’m slightly scarred for life. Much like Motherhood, Aunthood is not for the faint of heart.
