Tips for Simplifying Life {& Warding Off Heartburn}

Whether we’re running from here to there or trying to figure out what we should make for dinner, I find myself looking for ways to make things simpler. From organization to taking steps to improve my overall life experience, I have spent the past few months making changes that have really helped to minimize the chaos and simplify the stress. Preparation is key, not just when it comes to the big stuff, but also with nuisances like heartburn. Small steps like taking one Nexium 24HR pill can give all-day, all-night protection. Here are a few ways to simplify life a bit (and to help you ward off that pesky heartburn!)

For Life

1. Make a Visual Schedule and Stick to It

My husband laughed when I wanted a Command Center in my kitchen. Two baskets, a corkboard, and one dry erase calendar later, we’re two months in and I have a believer. This center is a lifesaver for our family and helps us to keep track of important papers, see when things are due, and helps the boys keep track of how many days there are to Halloween. It’s a life simplifier that is invaluable to our daily routine. (And yes, my husband added an army guy. “It IS a command center after all!”)

2. School Station Central

With two boys, two backpacks, two hoodies at any given time, along with school supplies like crazy, I put together this little school station so when we are trying to get out the door, it doesn’t take forever and a day. Hooks and a little cubby make this section organized and ready to tackle on those mornings when getting out of bed is just a wee bit harder.

3. DRINK water!

I’ve heard from countless people that water makes all the difference in the world. I try to make sure that I have plenty of water to get me through the day. Small portable bottles make this simple to do and not only do they help me to feel hydrated, they also work well when I need to ward off heartburn or take a Nexium 24HR capsule in a pinch. Just one pill gives me the Nexium level protection I need.

4. Keep Nexium near food preparation

It never fails – I’m putting together and the heartburn begins to rise. I reach for the cabinet right next to my stovetop and am quickly able to find what I need without much thought. My water is available and I’m ready to go!

5. Have snacks at the ready.

To make things easier on me (and the boys), I have a cabinet with ready-made snacks – thinks like pretzels, crackers, little granola bars, nuts – make the perfect quick munchies for when you’re hitting that afternoon blah.

Making life simple is one of my goals. I don’t always succeed, but planning and preparation are key. Baby steps are the way to actual progress, so whether you’re planning out your schedule or taking the Purple Pill to battle heartburn, you can be ready at a moment’s notice. And less time I spend worrying about those little things, the more time I can spend doing other things, like my landscaping.

    I’m super jealous of your school station. I need that in my life.
