The Day of My Birth (Mommy Post)

October 26, 2010

At approximately 9:18 a.m. on October 25, awesomeness was born – that’s me! Now, almost 28 years later, I’m still just as awesome, but I’ve married a Mister, added Sir Charles & am about to add Baby #2 in about 2 months! Daddy & Charlie made my day extra special and I thought I’d give a recap about what I did & all did for me!

I started the morning getting my usual 6:00a.m.-ish wake-up call from Charlie. Daddy and Charlie gave me my usual Hostess extravaganza. Charlie knows to blow out the candles after “Happy Birthday” and immediately began proclaiming “cake, cake, cake!” eating half of a Suzy Q in one sitting!

After opening my adorable cards, Jim headed downstairs to get surprise birthday smoothies from Poppy (my dad) for Charlie and I! Jim *loves* when my dad indulges me – it helps to keep me high-maintenance (wink, wink!) Just kidding! Thank you, daddy! We also won free french fries playing the McDonald’s monopoly game!
I began to get Charlie and I ready for the day. Unfortunately, I have come to the age where I spend birthdays at work usually. My birthday has been on the weekend the past two years, so this was my first experience in a while heading in for my bday! My work friends helped me celebrate in a big way! I received a Bed, Bath, & Beyond Gift certificate and my FAVE Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups from the gals (thanks, Cathy, Linda, Michele & Essie!) and our usual Jewel ah-ma-zing cake (triple layers of chocolate). Then, from Grant & Susan (the bossman), I received the following adorable Soup tureen with six soup bowls & pumpkin chowder from Crate and Barrel!
We also enjoyed lunch & cake at Palmer’s in downtown LaGrange and spent the morning laughing! Thanks to all of you for helping to make my “work” birthday extra-special!
Also while at work, I received a special package from the Vermont Teddy Bear company! (Thanks, Poppy & Momma!)  They were THE CUTEST things I think I have EVER seen (apart from my own children of course! haha) (Yes, the momma bear’s pregnant. Complete with maternity pants! hahahah!) The smaller bear has Charlie’s name embroidered on the overalls!

Finally, I headed home to enjoy Giordano’s pizza with my hubby, Charlie, and my mom & dad. It was DELICIOUS! I wasn’t feeling my best (alternating between fighting a cold & achiness and dealing with constant, agonizing sciatic nerve pain), but the day was extra-special nonetheless. We re-lit the remaining cupcakes, sang again, and Charlie blew out the candles! Daddy has always done a great job of surprising me and this year was no different! Since I turned 21, he has started a tradition of doing past-present-and the future gifts.  And so for this year, from the two of you, I received the following:
Past: The Office, Season 6 DVD (w00t!)
Present:
An all-time favorite

A package of 8 for a $1! Daddy was SO proud of this deal!

And finally, the Future:

A flip video camera!! To capture all our favorite moments in a tiny (and easy to use) form. I was SO surprised and had actually been trying to scout deals online to see if I could convince daddy to buy one!!

We ended the day relaxing, watching some of my new DVDs, and laying on the couch. Ice cream celebration to come later this week. It was an amazing day and I love you both SO SO much! Thank you for making me feel like a Queen!

The week and day were also filled with Facebook messages, wall posts, voicemails & cards (Thanks to all!) It really made my day wonderful!
