One of my favorite local places to go is the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn.  After visiting with Grandma (and at her suggestion) a little about a year and a half ago for Charlie’s first time, we became hooked on this 95th street gem! A few months later, for Charlie’s 2nd birthday, we snagged a All-In-The-Family membership which also includes a great reciprocal program through ACM.  For Illinois residents, this includes children’s museums in Chicago, Normal, Decatur, Rockford, Galesburg, Naperville, Glenview, Champaign, and Bourbonnais. As you can see, the selection is fantastic!

With our membership, we brought Jack about almost one year after we had taken Charlie! He loved it just as much and I knew that renewing this year was the right choice.  On the first level, Charlie’s favorite exhibit is the tissue tubes. With high-speed air, the kids can place tissues in the tubes and then are excited when they come popping out! Charlie could stay there for hours! The golf ball obstacle section has a number of different buckets, hills, tunnels and tubes, along with a slide!
The water table is a big hit, complete with fountains and smocks for quick clean-up. The sand section is just as fun (and messy!) On the second level, there are a ton more activities! From a dress-up stage to grocery store, Ice Cream Shoppe, veterinarian clinic, art station, treehouse, building area, train sets, and even an area for those kiddos under three years (safe, secure, and baby friendly), the possibilities for fun are endless!

A half-day there isn’t even enough time to explore everything and this makes having a membership totally worth it! My boys are 3 and 1 and love it every time we go.
(Warning: May cause tantrums upon departure…)

Don’t just take my word for it! Sarah at
Toddling Around Chicagoland loved the Museum as much as we do!
