Some days these little fellas look like this:
and act like this.
But other days, they wake up on the wrong side of the universe and the morning breaks out into screams, cries, and whining. Enter this morning.
Jack wakes up at 4:00 a.m. and in an effort to squeeze in some additional quality shut-eye, Jim brings Jack into our bed. Jack tosses, turns, nurses and falls back to sleep. Jim wakes up at 5:30 a.m. to shower. Jack wakes up at 5:45 a.m., incredibly irritated with a sopping wet diaper. Console Jack, change diaper, nurse Jack on the couch while watching the news. Jack is still cranky, irritable and screams if I put him down. At 6:03 a.m. Charlie wakes up, happy. Jim goes in to get him as he finishes getting ready. Charlie nears the door and turns crabby. Jim tells him to go back to bed, Charlie refuses, and comes out, pouting on the couch.
Jack is still screaming and refusing to be put down, wanting to nurse the whole time. Charlie starts whining for “Melkcleese!” {milk please} and Jack will not let me do anything else. Jim gives Charlie a talk about asking instead of demanding and the milk instantly calms Charlie. Jim leaves for work. Jack calms down. Breakfast at the table & then toys play time.
A half-hour of sheer madness.
Thankfully, they are in better spirits. Let’s hope it stays that way!
