Medieval Times – Schaumburg

July 30, 2012

The last time I ventured to Medieval Times, I went on a birthday “date” with my parents and boyfriend (now hubby). He wooed me with a Winnie the Pooh knight and I remembered vaguely that we ate dinner with our hands…
We headed up to Schaumburg, but this time with our two favorite littles in tow.  I had some reservations about taking Jack, but I decided to try it out anyway.
A bit about the show:
Surrender to an age of bravery and honor and witness epic battles of steel and steed during our ALL-NEW SHOW. From ringside seats, discover a feast of the eyes and appetite with more action, more fun & more excitement than ever before.

As you thrill to a rousing live jousting tournament, marvel at awe-inspiring horsemanship and falconry, Medieval Times serves a four-course meal fit for royalty.
With tricks, knights, a royal court, and beautiful live horses, this show will sure to delight even the littlest in your crew. Jack was captivated with the entrance of the horses and introduction of the knights – even cheering along with the crowd!
Charlie was a bit nervous about the louder sounds in the “courtyard” foyer, but once the show began he definitely warmed up to the sights and sounds!

The lighting in the arena was perfect for the setting and I found the sound to be right on cue throughout the event. The costumes are beautifully put together and colorful. Much of it reminded me of something out of Braveheart or the recent Disney Pixar flick, Brave.

The Food:

Tomato Bisque
Foccacia Bread (delicious!)
Oven-roasted Chicken
Larger BBQ Spare Rib
Herb-basted Potato split into two quarters
Braided Apple Strudel
Beverages (soda & coffee)
The food was wonderful and the portions were the perfect size. The boys ended up sharing the focaccia bread and we even have some for leftovers!
We had a fabulous time and Jack lasted for more than half the show! I definitely recommend this show for families as something a bit out of the ordinary, but also fun! (And our knight – yellow – even won!)
Quick Notes:

Now through September 30th, children ages 5-12 can participate in Princess (Saturdays) or Knight (Sundays) training. Included with the price of admission, kids can get into the action by learning just what it takes to win a battle or join the royal court.
With two full-size bars, their are drinks (and souvenir cups) for everyone in your family! Plenty of other souvenirs, such as dragons, costumes, figurines, or even professional pictures, round out your outing. (I considered the $6,200.00 suit of armor, but forgot to grab it before we left…)
Check out their ticket prices, directions, and specials to plan your next visit!
