Love with Food :: Review & Giveaway

August 25, 2012

Although I haven’t written a full recap post yet, I headed to the Big Apple a few weekends ago for the annual BlogHer conference. While there, I had the chance to talk with the lovely ladies of the Love with Food box and quickly fell in love with the concept.

Love with Food is essentially Birchbox, but with gourmet foods. Based on the subscription you choose (monthly, quarterly, 1/2 year, or yearly plans), you receive a red box each month with 8+ gourmet food samples to try out! The box is delivered to your door AND {one of my favorite parts} when you buy a deal, a meal is donated to the community. I love the concept that by trying new foods you are also giving back!

Priced at $10/box {plus $2 shipping}, the box is priced perfectly for gifting or just for a unique treat for yourself. This month’s theme was “Travelin’ Treats.”  Included in each box is a descriptive card with each item in your box and the theme for the month.

Here’s what was in mine:

Skinny Dipping Pretzels by East Shore

Key Lime with Ginger Mustard by East Shore

Vegan Lemony Lemon Cookie by the Sun Flour Baking Company

Charlie devoured this cookie. I was surprised at just how delicious it smelled and will admit that I was a bit skeptical about the vegan label. It seemed hard, but was actually pretty soft upon eating. Yummy!

Vegan Peanut Butter Cookie by the Sun Flour Baking Company

This was definitely a favorite for me. Peanut butter gets me every time. Similar texture to the lemon cookie, I enjoyed this immensely!

Dried Montmorency Cherries by Cherry Bay Orchards

Coconut Toffee Peanuts by Sconza Candies

Jim thought these were heavenly. I am not a coconut fan, so I didn’t try them, but he insisted they were very good. I may even consider surprising him with some for his birthday!

Gin Gins Super Strength Ginger Caramel Candy by The Ginger People

Tangerine Glee Gum

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the quantity substantial for the price, but I also liked the variety and flavors of foods I received. I love the concept of exposing myself (and my kids) to new tastes, flavors and brands AND giving back to the community.Want to try out your own box?

Use the code “PGVIP” on the subscription site for $2 off your first box. You won’t be disappointed! That’s yummy gourmet treats to your doorstep & a meal to the community for just $10!

You can also win a chance to try the September box for FREE! Enter the Rafflecopter below!

I’d love to see something chocolatey – especially as the weather begins to get cooler, shipping chocolates, or seasonal foods become easier (and less likely to melt)! 🙂

I’d love to see a spicy snack, like sciracha-flavored nuts or something. Mmmmm
